Why Rakchham
We are not a travel company created in a city office. We are people born and raised in the Himalayas.
Through The Himalayan Taskars, we share the mountains, culture, climbing, farms and traditions that shaped our lives.
Rakchham sits on the Baspa, between Sangla and Chitkul, at around 3,100 metres. It is a working village — orchards, fields, grazing grounds, a river and a road that ends not far past it. THT was not built by people who came here for a season. It was built by people who grew up walking these slopes, who know which paths are safe in which month, whose families farm the terraces you pass on the way up.

Approach to safety
Staff strength, equipment, food and emergency readiness are sized to the route, not to the margin. We turn groups around when the mountain says so. We do not run routes outside their season to fill a calendar.
